and talk to them like they can carry on a conversation right back.  We love our furry friends and we show it every chance we get.  Sometimes it can prove to be a difficult task to find a dog sitter or a kennel up to our human standards to take care of our four legged child.  If you are planning to have your wedding somewhere other than down the road, chances are you are really stressing over what to do with your hairy loved one when you tie the knot.  Never fear, The Islander Inn is here!  The oceanfront hotel in Ocean Isle Beach has a whole tail wagging wing dedicated to your traveling pooch.  When planning your wedding accommodations, be sure to ask a front desk attendant about the details.  So go ahead, add Spike to your wedding program as the Best Man.  You will be happy you did and he will show his appreciation with a wet nose kiss!

Every Day that Ends in ‘Y’ for beach Weddings

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Mother Nature does not care about the ‘work week’.  The sun still shines, the breezes still blow, and the waves still crash Monday through Friday in Ocean Isle Beach.  Saturdays and Sundays are not the only days the beach comes out to play so why should your wedding day be any different?  With the magic of summer only being a few months, the window of finding that ‘perfect’ weekend can seem rather small.  There are several perks to having a weekday wedding on the coast of North Carolina.

Rates are often less during the week at The Islander Inn and this can save your guests some hard earned money.  Many of them are using their vacation time to see you on your wedding, and this could help ease the burden on their wallets.  Room fees also decrease during weekdays at The Isles Restaurant as an incentive to book on less crowded dates.  Anyone can get married on a Saturday so why not be different and tie the knot on a Wednesday?  Think outside the ‘weekend’ so to speak and give a weekday a chance to prove its worth.

No Room at the Inn…. Don’t Forget the Guest Accommodations

Whether you are having your wedding on an exotic sandy island in the tropics or down the street from where you kissed your first love, these days almost every wedding is destination wedding.

The reason being that your guests will come from all over just to see you say ‘I do’.  Driving one hour or flying ten, your friends and family will need a place to stay.  Take some of the guesswork out for them and do a little research on local accommodations.

Many hotels will reserve a block of rooms for you and provide a discount if a certain quantity is booked.  Do this sooner than later and cross it off your list.  Depending on the time of year and location of your wedding, some hotels can fill up quick.

Ocean Isle Beach is a pretty popular place to vacation between Memorial Day and Labor Day so do not hesitate.  Be sure to make this information readily available in order for your friends and family to book in a timely fashion.  Don’t leave your guests holding the bag, or in this case, luggage.  A little legwork on your part will keep a smile on their faces, therefore keeping you relaxed and worry free.

Tides, and beach weddings in Ocean Isle Beach

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Having a beach wedding although beautiful comes with many unpredictable variables such as temperature, precipitation, wind, and wildlife.  Luckily, there are some variables you can control such as sunrise and set, and the tide tables. These variables are very helpful in determining what time of day to have your wedding.

It is important to keep you and your guests as comfortable as possible, and since Ocean Isle Beach can be very warm during wedding season April-October you should plan the wedding around a time of day that is as cool as possible. This time is around sunrise and sunset, which also happens to be the most beautiful part of the day. I believe the best decision is to have your ceremony about an hour before sunset.  Not only is this time of day cooler, but also if you are facing the ocean the sun will be behind both you and your guests so no one will have to squint through the ceremony.  In addition having photos taken after the ceremony right at sunset will be breathtaking and unforgettable!

Depending on what part of Ocean Isle Beach you have the wedding the beach width may be large or small.  This is why the tide table is such an important factor in determining what time of day to have your wedding.  If you have a chance visit your ceremony site at both high and low tide to better determine how large the beach is, and if it is even possible to hold a ceremony at high tide. I would suggest using the tide tables and having your wedding as close to low tide as possible to give you more space and therefore more options for your ceremony location.  You can find tide tables for your wedding date on our recommended vendor list.  The tables are provided about 1 year out.

As you can tell there are very few factors you can control when having a beach wedding therefore those you can control should be taken advantage of! I hope these suggestions help you choose the perfect time for your ceremony!  And as always, happy planning!

Perfect Beach Wedding Photographers

Friday, March 5th, 2010

There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a perfect beach wedding photographer.  First, make sure to look at their past work.  I would suggest looking at entire wedding albums they have created instead of just their best pictures from different weddings.  That way you can get a better idea of their final product, quality, and overall style.  Second, I strongly suggest checking references.  Contact at least two people the photographer has worked with, this can help you determine how reliable, available, and easy to work with they are.  Finally, make sure to set up a meeting with the photographer.  Here is a link to some recommended photographers that Oceanfront Weddings of NC suggests.

This person is going to capture memories of your special day so it is important you have the same vision and feel comfortable working with this person.
