2011 Beach Wedding Trends

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Our Ocean Isle Beach wedding planners understand you want your wedding day to be both unique and customized to your particular style. That’s why we stay atop the latest wedding trends, especially those specific to beach weddings, and have compiled a list of the latest beach wedding trends! Think you could benefit from hiring a wedding consultant? Contact our OIB wedding consultants today!

  • Ocean Isle Beach WeddingOften beach weddings are more casual, which allows for more casual attire options. Rather than require your bridesmaids to all wear the same dress, choose a particular color and let them choose the dress style that best compliments their body type.
  • If you are going to be married barefoot or with flip flops or casual sandals, find some unique foot jewelry to accent your dress.
  • Bright and vibrant colors are easily incorporated in beach weddings. Any shade of blue (in particular, turquoise), lime green, pink and purple are all extremely popular now.
  • Because long veils don’t always cooperate with beach weather and wind, bridal hair pieces are becoming more popular. Still deciding how you want to style your hair for your wedding? Check out these beach bridal hairstyles, all of which are highlighted with hair pieces and ornate jewelry.
  • Your guests’ seating is no longer straight rows – circular seating options are now extremely popular and signify the bride and groom’s love.
  • The use of beach wedding quotes in your vows, announcements and favors are a great way to add a personalized twist on your big day.
  • The sand ceremony is both popular and appropriate for a beach wedding – check out our blog post on the wedding sand ceremony!
  • And because your wedding is outdoors, you can invite your furry friend to participate! Many couples are dressing up and incorporating their canine “babies” in their wedding.

Ways to Relax Before Your Big Day

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

Beachfront Wedding in North CarolinaWedding preparations leaving you stressed? Don’t let them! The Oceanfront Weddings of N.C. staff in Ocean Isle Beach, NC recommends the following ways to unwind prior to your wedding day, leaving you ready to enjoy every minute of your special day.

The key to unwinding is escaping your hectic environment. Reading a book or magazine allows you to enter another world, or watch a funny television show or movie. (Laughter is, after all, the best medicine!) If solitude is what you’re seeking, set aside a specific amount of time and soak in a bubble bath, or take a nap. Just make sure you stick to it and let no one interrupt you! Exercise, even if it’s just a walk on the beach or some light yoga, will leave you feeling refreshed as well.

And perhaps most importantly, don’t feel you have to tackle every task yourself. Hire a wedding planner, or more than likely friends and family will offer help if needed. Lean on them to help you – they’re here to make sure your big day is all you want it to be!

Wilmington, NC’s Cape Fear Wedding Show is a Success!

Monday, November 15th, 2010

Yesterday the Oceanfront Weddings of N.C. staff participated in the first event at the Wilmington, NC Convention Center, the Cape Fear Wedding Show. The expo was a huge success, drawing a crowd of over 1,000 and had over 300 brides in attendance.  The Cape Fear Wedding Show is truly becoming one of the premiere bridal shows in the state, and more brides outside of Southeastern North Carolina attended this year than any prior show.

Oceanfront Weddings of N.C. teamed with Ocean Isle Beach’s premiere oceanfront hotel The Islander Inn, Brunswick County’s luxurious golf course The Pearl, and Ocean Isle Beach’s The Isles Restaurant, which boasts a new chef, Peter Hutchings of the Culinary Institute of America. Stephanie Moore of Moore Photography in Wilmington, NC also stopped by and took this amazing photograph of our booth!

Wedding Favors on a Budget: When Every Dollar Counts!

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

North Carolina Beach Wedding Favor IdeasIn a previous blog post, the Oceanfront Weddings of NC broke down your wedding budget and explained how they could help you have your dream wedding and still stay within your budget. Now we’d like to share a useful website, My Wedding Favors, and their tips on creating unique wedding favors on a budget.

In one particular article, MyWeddingFavors.com’s Michael Kabel gave multiple tips on creating budget-friendly favors, including buying your materials in bulk. Oftentimes online warehouses will give you a discount for large orders, so you can easily save money there. Giving smaller, personal items are typically cheaper, and if you’re not afraid of a little manual labor, you can save money in the preparation process. Invite your friends over for a girl’s night and make the favor creation process a party! Remember that wedding favors serve as a keepsake for your guests of your big day, so make it something they can cherish!

Wedding Rituals: The Unity Sand Ceremony

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Looking for something out of the ordinary to include on your special day? The unity sand ceremony is growing in popularity and is an excellent way to represent the joining of two lives in marriage. And how effortlessly a sand ceremony can be incorporated into a beach wedding in Ocean Isle Beach, NC

NC Beach Weddings with Sand Ceremony

A substitute for the candle ceremony, the sand ceremony can include not only the bride and groom, but family members as well. While the vows are recited, alternate colors of sand are poured into vases of your choosing. The vases are then a keepsake for you to keep forever! To see if the unity sand ceremony is something you’d like to incorporate into your wedding, or for any questions you may have on the ceremony check out the Unity Sand Ceremony website.
